CCHPBA Sends Our Rep to State Convention
The Chaffee County branch of the National Home Builders Association, the CCHBA, selected two local members to attend the state convention, held at Beaver Creek Resort the weekend of October 8.
Kitchen designer from Cabinet Wholesalers, Cheryl Tischer, and builder Brenda Warren of Cut-No-Slak Construction Co., Salida, were the two representatives sent to take part in the convention.
Educational sessions related to building and building issues were offered. Featured speakers discussed how to design plans for difficult sites, how to communicate with clients, how to assist homeowners with financing their projects, and how to use color in designing, among other topics. Brenda and Cheryl tried to cover as many sessions as possible. They wanted to take full advantage of resources available.
Exhibits by vendors and other suppliers displayed new products and services that Colorado builders and contractors can access.
Keynote speaker, U.S. Senator Tom Tancreado, gave the closing speech after a beautiful banquet, held in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. New state officers were installed, and the entertainment was excellent.
Cheryl was impressed with the Beaver Creek community. " The investment of time and money was definitely worth it", she says.

Be Prepared for Kitchen Remodeling Surprises
Any building project can be difficult. But remodeling projects are famous for running over budget due to unforeseen "surprises".
Remodeled kitchens are wonderful; annoying features of the old kitchen are changed and the new work space makes the cook happy. Meals taste better; the family congregates. It's worth the cost and effort. But plan for sudden complications to pop up.
Are you moving the plumbing? Sometimes old plumbing parts don't accept newer, standard fittings. Maybe you plan to keep the sink and disposer that you got a couple years ago. But when the old cabinets are pulled out, the mineral build-up on pipes pulls the gaskets and fittings away with them.
Are you moving walls? You may have to upgrade to new electrical specifications. Make sure that the new backsplash isn't too tall for existing outlets. And if the older backsplash was taller than the new one, you might have to refinish the walls.
When the demolition has been completed, now you see how unlevel the floor has been. This may require a new flat surface for that great tile that you ordered.
Want to avoid surprises ? Consult with the experts at Cabinet Wholesalers - we've done lots of kitchens. Let our experience work for you.

Shopping Process Can Be Simple
Shopping for cabinets takes a lot of time and energy. Why spend tiring days standing around, waiting, in a big home center clone? We are your neighbors, with a store right here in your town. Come shop and compare prices and features in the beautiful showroom of Cabinet Wholesalers on your way home from the grocery store or after picking up the kids at school.
Those big warehouses beckon with promise of bargains and huge displays. Did you get served while you were there or did you have to go find someone? Did you notice other customers waiting for service? Did you get your questions answered by an informed person?
We are informed. We are trained kitchen experts, not part-time, stressed-out clerks. When you return to our store, you will see the same person that you met the first time.
We listen to your ideas and help you stay in your budget. We know about plumbing and appliances, too. We don't send you to another department to look at faucet specs. Our showroom has a relaxed, inviting atmosphere.
Frequently, we will see a floor plan drawn by our big competitors. Not only are the measurements off, we've noticed that they omit toeboard, trim pieces and other finish materials that are needed for every project. Will they take time to check actual measurements with the cabinets they are trying to sell you? No, but we will include a final measuring appointment after the walls are framed to guarantee accuracy. This also allows for last-minute changes, before ordering.
Bring us your floor plan, or let us measure your kitchen. We can do it quickly and precisely. If we have questions, we'll go back and check as many times as necessary.
If you shop with the "big guys", come see us last. You'll be glad you did.

What Will It Cost Us?
The deciding factor for new kitchens and remodeling projects is: "what will the cost be"? Here are some reasons that kitchen designers can be vague when trying to provide figures without specifics:
- No job is the same. We have learned from our experience that, even though we try to foresee each possible delay or problem, it seems that a new one will find a way to show up.
- Materials vary. Cabinet construction and the use of more solid wood upgrades can make two similar-looking cabinets have very different prices. It is common for manufactured cabinets to have some particle board in the shelves, or sides, for instance. If you want total wood cabinets, be prepared to pay more for them.
- Wood costs vary. Oak cabinets are still the local favorite and oak is offered in many styles and price ranges. Maple is becoming more expensive due to its popularity and dwindling supply forests. Hickory and Birch are more costly, too. New laminated cabinets can be a great choice, with wood-grain or colorful veneer surfaces. One of our suppliers can apply certain Wilsonart laminates to their cabinets, for a modern look that will last and be easy to care for.
Please don't ask us to "ballpark" a new kitchen. And we can't provide a "per-linear-foot" price. Once your plans are in our hands, and materials selected, we can give you an exact price.
We say that kitchen cabinets would cost less than a good used car or truck. We would pay, say, $10,000 for a vehicle that we could expect to use for three or four years. This makes the twenty-five year lifespan of our new kitchen seem like a great value at $10,000.
Let Cabinet Wholesalers refer financing, too, and get you that once-in-a-lifetime dream kitchen you deserve.
